Can I apply at age 22?

I am 22 and a really good balelt dancer. I was told by the Northern Ballet School that they will allow anyone of any age to audition if they are good enough. But people on this site are extremely negative towards good dancer over the age of 17. So please, make negative commetns if you please but it won't deter me, I am wanting sound advice from people who actually know about the industry and will be able to point me in the right direction.
