NBA rookie challenge - screaming kids?

I normally dont watch the Rookie challenge so maybe its a normal thing but.... Whats with the screaming bursts every 5 seconds. Its not even cheering. Its like a scream for half a second. break. scream. break. scream. OMG its so annoying. It looks like the stupid mascot is directing it and its a mess. Or am i missing something?
