Why don't spyware/adware software have the auto-update feature?

I use Windows Defender, Spyware Blaster, Spybot S&D and AdAware. All these have to be manually updated. Shouldn't adware and spyware softwares be setup like anti-virus software so that they update themselves when updates are available.
